Looks like I forgot to upload this one from 2016. I recently put a varnish on it to make the darks deeper and put a frame on it. I sometimes find that I like my old paintings more as I forget that I painted them.
I’m working on a more elaborate painting based on Botticelli Birth Of Venus and wanted to share a photo of it in progress. The arms are the most fully developed with and extra layer or two more than the rest. The lines in the leave are there as markers so I better know how to proceed. I tend to pain the the basic shapes and then layer on more details with adjustments. One advantage of this is I don’t worry too much about making each layer perfect as can edit later.
As California is mandating corporate boards to have non-white men, I’ve updated my portrait for their consideration.
Just another version of a previous painting with different contrast.
To take action about erasing “toxic masculinity”, I made a copy of an Ingres painting sans, ehem, toxins.
