Class day 4

Today we just added the lighter highlights… Next week, we’ll finish up by glazing shadows. It’s been fun to go back to this piece each week as it’s new to me to paint so many layers on dry paint.

Thought I’d give this one a try without the software feedback to set a baseline… Hopefully robot arm will be better.

We were instructed to keep the colors flat and just refine value changes.

Extended code to see where areas are too dark (in blue) or too light (in red).  Later, the robot will attempt to correct errors as it paints.  It was hard for me to just use the red and blue feedback to paint as didn’t know how it mapped to the canvas… but the robot will know this 🙂

Painting judge

Part of my motivation for painting this year was in preparation for a robotic project where the goal is to get it to paint.  Worked today on code to compare a painting to source material.  White areas in the lower image show the last accurate areas in the painting.
